Freeserve and other mainstream free ISPs’ impose censorship, which I am totally opposed to. Nildram offers this service at extra cost on their dial-up connection but why pay for something that should be free of charge. FreeUKs’ portal may not be something great to look at but the whole point of the World Wide Web is that you can look at everything else and not restricted to the ISP’s own web portal. FreeUK is the best if you have to pay per minute calls for an ... more |

I have used various ISP's and FreeUK is one of the smaller unheard of companies. Compared to Freeserve I tend to connect to FreeUK better with better first time connection. Also FreeUK’s mail account connects a lot quicker and has in general less timeouts. However Freeserve does offer good deals with BT on off-peak and peak connections. I first signed up with this ISP ages ago, when it was first introduced and have continued to use it on and off ever since, it really is that good. At first I was attracted by the offer of a large amount of free WebSpace being given and the no nonsence service that Free UK offer. The e-mail facility is very good and reliable, and mails come through quickly showing that their mail servers are good. Connection speeds are stable and consistent throughout the day. They have a well thought out, informative homepage where everything is explained in clear English with none of the technical jargon that can be found with other providers. They also go ... The only bad thing I can say about Freeuk is that you still have to pay for your call's via a local call rate number. Many ISP's could learn a lot from Freeuk, since I joined last year I have had no problems at all. So I can't comment on their customer support as I've never had to use itand 90% of the time I can connect first time round I do use my other ISP more simply because it uses a free call number but if your looking for a reliable ISP I can fully recommend you try Freeuk. ... fantastic.... great...... excellent.... what more can I say. I started on the internet with another ISP, which was unreliable, and was told about Freeuk and how I could join up on line. I had nothing to lose except a bad ISP....so I joined. I was very impressed. The server connections are fast, the newsgroups server has over 80,000 newsgroups and it is very easy to add to the list if one of your valuable ng's is not on their list. Only one downfall that I can see with Freeuk, the cost of the calls. Ok it's only 1p per minute after 6pm and all weekend but you can very easily get carried away. I Can't wait for Freeuk to catch up with the 0800 access ... Read the complete review

I believe that FreeUK won several awards from UK computer magazines for being a great ISP... and it's true. I first got on the net in the Great-Freeserve-Rush(tm) of a few years back, when they initially launched. Service was good, but as they grew in popularity, you could feel the strain on the users. So, I jumped ship to FreeUK. After just over two years of membership with them, things have only improved. In fact, my connection speeds have always been faster on FreeUK that any of my other ISP's, thanks to rolling modem upgrades. Even though I'm back with Freeserve for BT's Surftime offer now, FreeUK still handles webspace, ... Read the complete review
