I applied for an ADSL connection with Giointernet on 14 May 2003 and was promised connection within 7 - 10 working days. Unfortunately I paid by debit card for 2 months connection, activation, a modem and two filters. To date I am still waiting for connection.

The excuses I have been given range from their servers being faulty to blaming BT for activation of the telephone line. I have since found out that they sent me faulty modem so I returned it back to them on the promise that they will send me a new one. I am still waiting! My numerous emails and telephone calls to get the matter looked into have been in vain. Their customer service is non existent and support (calls charged at £0.60 per minute) totally useless. No one wants to take responsibility for the problem so that everytime I call to complain I get transferred all over the place or have to phone a different department. The result being I have to reiterate my complaint over and over again to different/same members of the staff. There is no procedure for dealing with customer queries/complaints.

I am asking for a full refund for services paid but not yet received. To date they have not even acknowledged that they are looking into the matter. I am now seeking legal advice to resolve the problem.

It might be the cheapest ISP but be warned it comes at a hefty price.



***Update 26/06/03***

I phoned today for an update and guess what? They haven't read the letter that I sent them via registered mail a week ago. The Customer Services Manager (atleast that's what he calls himself!) said he deals with and receives complaints like mine all the time and didn't have time to discuss individual matters. He's a busy man apparently. Infact he told me that the more I phone the less likely he is going to deal with my complaint! Now that's what I call customer services. Well done Gio!

It's such a shame, GioInternet started out so good and are trying to provide ADSL for not much more than some people are paying for a good dial up connection. If they provided a reasonable service, it would force other ISPs to reduce thier prices. Unfortunately, like thier dial up service which has gone downhill, it's too cheap. Good review.
