Libertysurf.co.ukNewest Review: ... for a year when using the service after 6pm weekdays and all weekend. I took up this offer and to be fair it has been good although at the start there were some teething problems but now all seems to be running well. My concern is that this offer is no longer available as a company called Tiscalli have taken over. They are offering a different package of £5.95 for 50hrs per month, £9.95 for 100hrs and £12 for 24/7. I liked my first package that I bought but am now considering my options. In general the prices are competitive and I have not seen another offer like this based on hours it is usually an off peak offer. So until this offe... more |

It has now been almost 1 year to the day since i started using Libertysurf and that means times up. Libertysurf had a deal about 1 year ago were you bought a disc for £20 and it gave you free internet for a year when using the service after 6pm weekdays and all weekend. If someone asked me for one word to round up LibertySurf I would scream. If you ever want to waste £50 this is the way to do it. I signed up for £20 for off-peak free calls, then upgraded to 24/7 for a further £30. The site was quick, connection's were instant, gaming was good and then is all stopped. 2-3-4-5 hours to connect and 1 hour online, no apology and as if to punish for complaining they gave us a free MONTH after going through 2 months where they tried and failed to sort themselves out before selling to a company who then has sold to Tiscalli. They have now banned streaming, gaming or any other bandwidth intensive activity but only for the 24/7 people ... Read the complete review

about two years ago when i first started using the internet i signed up for libertysurf, at the time it was a good service but like most of the free ISP companys they over subscribed. i tried to get in touch with them as i only used the service for about 4 months to get my money back. as you can gather they did not give me a refund, which is dame right out of order. as to date most of the free providers went bust or sold out, but if you look about they are all coming back with the same offers. i would surgest that anybody who is going to signe up for these packages DON'T stick to the pay as you go service or the free evenings and weekend packages ... When we purchased the £20 Libertysurf off-peak disc from Comet this time last year we didn't expect too much. After all, there's no such thing as a free lunch! Initially our cynicism was well-founded. Disconnections, unable to access the internet, PC crashes. You name it... The helpline (which admittedly was free) could never be reached, which added to stress levels. These past few months though the service has improved dramatically. The £20 discs were withdrawn and Tiscali (a fast growing European service provider who boasts 10 million subscribers)has taken over. As initial subscribers experiencing many problems in the early days, ... Read the complete review

When this first came out in April 2000 it was available via CD-ROM packages from the Kingfisher chain of retailers - Comet, MVC, Woolworths and B&Q. It offered free calls for 12 months' unlimited off-peak internet access at a cost of £20. Off-peak is classed as anytime after 6pm on weekdays until 8am and weekends. The only other restriction is that it cuts you off after 2 hours usage - you may reconnect immediately though. I was reluctant to use the service due to its cheap price and thus the fear that it may be awful. Initially this reluctance was warranted and the service was poor with regular inability to connect. Gradually though ... Read the complete review
