My service provider is currently N.T.L, and overall I think that they do a good job. Their slogan is “NTL technology, tamed” as they claim to brake it down and make it easier for you to understand. Now I don’t know about that but I do agree with their other slogan, which I know of from experience. They claim that they provide cable, Internet and a phone line for the same price that BT provides you with just a phone. Now when my household had BT we paid £60 a month and we could use the phone as much or as little as you want. Now with NTL we pay in total about £50 which gives us some cable channels as much Internet as you want and as much or little phone as you want.

The thing I especially like about our NTL service at the moment is this. If you buy some cable channels from them it doesn’t matter how many, we only have the cheapest package; which is about £5 and a few extra channels (woe is me!!!!) But any way once you are paying for those cable channels no matter how many or few they are then you get free; as in totally free no catches apart from buying channels and unlimited Internet access. Now I think that’s a pretty good deal.

The phone line is a separate deal really from cable and Internet. You have to pay a fixed monthly fee for the line rental. You then pay for your calls like normal. Here’s the bright side of the deal though. Phoning another NTL line is free providing the phone has the same area code as your phone. It’s not an out of the ordinary deal but its still fairly reasonable price wise.

The thing that bugs me about NTL thought is there phone line. If you phone them up you are usually kept on hold for a long time and people keep transferring you to other people.

And sometimes the channels go due to technical difficulties and when the cable channels go it takes the terrestrial channels with it. So you phone them up and ask what’s wrong. Now we have phoned them up twi
ce because the T.V channels went and they come up with the most stupid unbelievable excuses. For example they told us the first time that a building was on fire where they broadcast from and the second time that a lorry had driven through the broadcasting rooms!!!!

All in all I think that NTL is a good service. I especially like the Internet, cable deal. Even if the help lines are a bit shabby I think there quite good. And are value for money
