I feel really bad in a small way for writing to state that i have been with NTL for approximately 6 years and to be honest i have never had a problem whatsoever!
I initially had their phone line installed which was straight forward..i then got the digital tv package, price was right and installed correctly.
I then cut down off the tv package as it had gone up in price and they offered me to keep it for another year at half price- think it was about £10 a month and they put every single channel on the box..something like 900, at the time!!
I kept that for the year and then cancelled it at the end. They didnt offer me the same deal again, which to be honest i didnt expect as id had it for so cheap for a year.
I then had a computer given to me by a friend and requested NTL to come and install broadband at a very reasonable price they agreed.
However i did have a slight problem with this..the technician was fine and installed the lines in despite the computer being in the back bedroom and the line having to come in from the front of the house..he never moaned about it and tucked it all under the carpets etc to hide the line.
When it came to installing the broadband however, i found that my computer was not fast enough to take it.
I was slightly annoyed as i had told them what make and KB or whatever it is that you can identify what speed the computer is..and was never told it wouldnt take it.
NTL were fine about it and sent out a disc for me to install dial up onto the computer within a few days.
I have now had dial up for approximately a year and can honestly say i have never had any problems or faults with it..nor have i never been able to not get on the internet.
The only bad criticism i would say is that they put the monthly fee for the internet up without sending what i would class as a formal letter. When i noticed on my bill that it had gone up by about £4 a month i called them and they said leaflets had been sent out to all houses and it stated on there how much dial up was a month.
To me it would be a leaflet that would come through the door advertising NTL but you throw in the bin as you already have a deal with them and if they are putting their prices up to loyal customers, you would think a formal letter would be sent.

Apart from this, i would be quite happy to stay with them. Whilst a lot of people do have problems, what i would say is this...if you pay for quality, you get quality. if you pay a cheap price or want a cheap price for a service, expect their customer service to reflect in that price...you cant get A* service for a cheap product.

Summary: Give them a try, if you dont like their service, then go elsewhere!
