Further NTL installation woes (NTL)

I had almost exactly the same experience with NTL, the only difference being that I got out quicker. After a day and a half wasted waiting for the installation engineers and having no calls returned, I was told that I had been given another installation date (without being informed!) on a Wednesday.
So I said I've taken enough time off waiting for extra TV channels, I already have broadband with Namesco (recommended), all I wanted really was Sky One to watch Lost.
Instead I'll just download it. Cancelled everything. Couldn't believe that I'd found a company that make BT look efficient.
Like other reviewer, I found woman on end of line when I cancelled didn't sound remotely surprised. Must happen all the time.
If you do decide to go down the NTL route, unless you are unemployed, make sure you have lots of days you can take off work and don't cancel the phone line until it's up and running. I asked the sales person not to cancel my BT line, because I had doubts as to NTL efficiency and these doubts were fully realised.
