I would advise anyone who is thinking of joining NTL ( or Virgin Media as they like to be called) to consider any other option. If you do not pay your bill on time they suspend your services. They will lie to you on a regular basis. I have had so many problems with NTL that I have transfered my tv to sky, my phone to bt and now just need to get rid of the broadband. Leaving NTL is not easy, you have to pay a month in advance and then you go through so many departments you get sick and give up. A friend of mine had to say he was moving to the USA just to get disconnected.

Summary: It was hell with NTL

Why should they continue with their service if you do not pay, other companies do it, too. NTL have (had) a 30 day cancellation policy, you have to give them 30 days to cancel your contract - so do loads of other companies. I only left NTL when I moved and the area where I live now is not on the cable network. I had no problems cancelling, they suspended/switched off the service from the day I moved out (before the time was up) so that nobody after me could run up a phone bill or take advantage of other services I had.
