Advantages: Easy To Sign Up, Short Contract, No Hidden Costs
Disadvantages: None
I recently reviewed Orange and having turned to o2 recently I feel I can give an early opinion on this network. Maybe the review will turn for the better or worse in the coming months or at the end of my time with them, however this is just my experience and opinion of o2 so far.
Now what I look for in a contract is minutes and texts. After all without minutes and texts my phone would not suit me at all as I can't live with it and am in near constant contact with other people through it. My old deal with Orange was 350 minutes and 200 texts for £10 a month. However as mentioned in my other review one of the main problems I had with Orange was that they added compulsory charges on top and without going into these again the actually price came to around £15 or so.
As my contract had run out and Orange not willing to offer me the same deal again, I then set a target to find a better contract, I was not worried about buying a new phone so the main aspect was just to find a sim only deal. I had a look around and found that my current network at the time Orange had a £15 a deal with 200 minutes and unlimited texts. This seemed excellent and was tempting. However a friend informed me of the o2 simplicity deals. This was also sim free and for £14.69 I could get 300 minutes and 600 texts.
Now between those two deals I was confused which to go for. Then I remember that with Orange they have the extra charge and even if they only charge me the VAT on top the Orange contract would still come to £17.25 if my calculations are correct. Of course this settled the debate for me and I chose to go for the o2 simplicity deal.
The minutes and texts are now adequate for me and much better than my old deal. If you are looking to buy a new phone then definitely do not for this deal, it would make more sense to pay a bit extra each month and receive a free phone.
In terms of signing up to o2 it was a very straightforward experience, but in fact the majority of networks make it very simple. I just went into the store with my Pac code. For those of you who do not know what a Pac code is, it is basically a code that you use to transfer your phone number to your new network and it terminates your old contract once used.
Another great aspect of o2 is that this contract is not a long 12 month or 18 month contract like my old Orange contract. It is monthly and I can cancel it with short notice. Only 30 days notice is needed to cancel and that is it. No added payments that are written in the small print, no extra internet charges, no VAT on top of the agreed amount. Just stay within your minutes and texts and life is easy.

Just to finally add if there are any better offers out there then please let me know, as like I mentioned before I am not tied to a long contract here, which means I can always change if I find a better deal. Thanks
