Advantages: Good line rental packages.
Disadvantages: No signal at my work!
I have been with the O2 phone network, before it even became O2. Many years ago when I was just a teenager I bought my first mobile phone. It was a Philips one, with a tiny screen, black and white, and it was the first phone to send smiley faces, it was so revolutionary!
I bought it from tescos as it was the same phone a lot of my friends had and it was nice and cheap. I cant remember how much it was, but at a guess it was £50 and it was on pay as you go, on the net work BT cellnet. BT then became O2 (if my knowledge of business is correct) and I have been with them ever since. I this respect I guess that makes this a bad review as I don't have any experience of other networks to compare this too, but I have lots of experience with O2.
A few years after buying my first phone I started a line rental contract. This was because it was the best way for me to get a more expensive phone without having to pay for it all up front. Since then I ave had contract phones, and because the deals with minutes and messages are better value that's what I have been sticking with, although I expect pay as you go will soon be keeping up with this.
My contract is £35 a month and this covers 600 message 600 minutes and unlimited data access as I am on an iphone contract. Over the years I have tried different contracts but I have always found that the higher the messages and minutes the more I actually save when it comes to paying my bill.
One thing that definitely kept me with O2 this time round was that they are the only company to do the iphone. I definitely wasn't going then as I was desperate for the iphone. The downside is that I have been moved onto an 18 month contract, which means it is longer until I can upgrade, previously I have always stuck with 12 month contracts so that I get to uograde after 11 months.
Whenever I have phoned O2 the customer service has been great, they always know what they are talking about and have been incredibly helpful. The one downside is though, quite often they keep you on hold for far too long.
Summary: Good network provider.
