Advantages: Good coverage, excellent deals

Disadvantages: Admin system is lousy

My fiancee has been with O2 for about 8 years now, and when I moved to England I was looking to get a contract phone. The service in our village varies between providers, and very quickly I realised I could have orange, O2 or vodaphone, but not 3, Virgin or T-mobile.

We called up O2 and on stating she already had a contract they sort of linked them, meaning we did not pay the advertised price. In the end we got a deal £8 a month cheaper than if we had just bought it online, and a £49 handset for free, so it is always worth calling up and bartering.

However their system for creating new accounts is limited. If you have lived out of the UK in the last 6 years you won't be able to get a contract, as the system only works on postcodes, and Ireland, where I am from, doesn't have them!

Since getting my phone I have been happy with the coverage where ever I go, and charges are reasonable too. However on the first two months my unlimited text messages bundle did not kick in, but on calling customer services I was fully reimbursed for these charges.

I like that I am able to check my bills online, and the payment can come out of my account on a date specified by me.

Summary: Very happy with the service.
