Advantages: Competitive Prices, Good Service

Disadvantages: Some services can be costly

I have been on all five of the major ‘pay as you go’ mobile networks, those being Vodafone, Orange, T.Mobile, Virgin and O2 and I have to say that my current network provider, O2 is the best. At first I was a little wary of O2 as I had heard some bad reports about them, but nether-the-less I proceeded in purchasing my Nokia 3410 with O2.

Set-up with O2 is easy. When you first switch on your ‘pay as you go’ phone you will be welcomed with a registration screen, here you enter the necessary details and for this you will be rewarded with £1 of call time. A further £4 will be awarded later in the month, once your details have been processed. Once your registration is complete then you’re away. Easy as that.

If you purchase a wap-enabled phone (which most mobiles have today) you will receive the first month completely free (10p per minute thereafter) and on the rare occasions you may even receive further months free. My friend had his free for around five months, O2 must have forgotten all about him! Well no, that’s an unfair statement because O2 don’t forget about their customers and in fact their interaction with customers is very good. You will receive regular text updates on the developments of 02 and their customer support seems to be effective, however I have not had much experience with that side of O2, thank God.

The O2 service I would describe as being good and competitive. Pre-programmed into your O2 phone you will have numbers of services such as ‘Traffic Line’, ‘UK Directory’, ‘Talking Pages’ and ‘AA’ and ‘RAC Breakdown’. However some of these services can be costly, ‘Traffic Line’ for example is 45p per minute. The wap services offered are also very good. O2 has regular competitions and has links to entertainment and lifestyle, for example cinema times.

The O2 UK service currently has 2 ‘pay & go̵
7; sevice plans; ‘Talkalot’ and ‘Original’ with an option for adding ‘bolt-ons’, this is subscribing to a package, such as 100 text messages for a month. You can also pay a weekly fee of £1.49 for 200 minutes of mobile Internet access (wap). The UK coverage of O2 is good, much like Orange and the call charges are competitive. For the latest call charges you should visit www.o2.co.uk.

I am having a good experience with 02 ‘pay & go’ service and would recommend them to anyone. However ‘Phillg’ did not write a promising review of O2 contract service.
