Advantages: Can have brilliant offers and signal is always good!

Disadvantages: Sometimes they are no help

I moved to Orange around 6 years ago, I was with Vodafone before hand and was forever topping up. Then I was told orange always had offers on so I decide to switch.

From the time of joining the network they did nothing but help me, where my phone had been on another network I couldn't get orange world so rang them up and within a space of 15 minutes I had been called back on another number and was taken through it step by step. By the end of the call I was able to send picture messages and could browse on orange world.

After a few weeks of being with the network I was told to text a word to Orange services and within 24 or 48 hours I had been given 3000 evening and weekend text messages, and if I topped my phone up by £15 per month I would carry on getting these messages. Then I was told I could get 600 minutes of evening calls a month so I also did this, it took a little longer for the calls but a month later I had a text to say my 600 orange to orange evening minutes had been activated, all I had to do to keep these was to top up £10 a month. A huge plus was that the £15 I was paying for my 3000 texts was also covering the £10 for the messages.

I got on brilliant with orange pay as you go for a few years, especially since I had my two offers in place, but then started to find I was still having to top up quite often as the messages could only be used between 7 pm and 7 am and the calls between 7 pm and 11.59 pm. I was grateful to be having so many messages for the price I was paying but what use was I getting out of them, maybe if they had changed it to between 7 am and 7 pm I would have stuck with pay as you go but it got to a point where I was putting nearly £50 a week on my phone so decided I had to stop.

I wanted to stay with Orange so had a look at contracts on the Orange website, I found a phone I liked then decided on a dolphin contract of unlimited texts and 600 anytime minutes, this was going to cost me £30 a month (so I thought).

I ordered my phone, it was delivered exactly when it said it would be, but instead of one phone they had sent me two! I refused delivery of the one as I had no use for a second phone, what did I want 2 contracts for.

I was getting on really well with my new contract, I enjoyed having the freedom to text and make calls without worrying about my credit running out. That was until my first bill turned up, it was way over £30, nearly £50 to be exact, and not just that id received a bill for the second phone that id refused delivery off. I contacted Orange straight away, they told me that they had made a note of my call and said that I should not receive any more bills. As to my bill being so high they said they would look into it. I carried on receiving rather high bills and also bills for the second handset. After the forth bill for the second handset and numerous calls to orange I finally stopped receiving them and from then on only had my one monthly bill. Now this monthly bills price was creeping upwards, at one point I had to pay £78, again I questioned orange and they told me I had sent numerous multiple photo messages and that I was using orange world on my phone on a regular basis. I knew for a fact I had not sent these messages or used orange world as often as they were making out but they were adamant and nothing was going to change their minds. I was disappointed with the way I had been treated.

After 6 months of being with orange I had a text saying that orange had found me a 'best plan' this meant they had reviewed my usage over the 6 month period and decided I would benefit from a different plan. I was surprised to find that my 'best plan' was to lower my minutes to 200 a month but to keep my unlimited texts, the price of my bill then dropped to £20 a month.

Since changing my tariff I have not had any more problems with high priced bills and although Orange were no help to me when I was receiving such high bills I still think they are the best network to have a mobile with.

The signal with orange is so much better than that of any other network.

Also I like that I have the option of adding magic numbers. With this you get to choose a number to have permanent unlimited free calls to, the number has to be that of an orange user but you can call it as many times as you like for as long as you like. Once you have selected you're magic number you cannot change or edit it for 6 months, if after the 6 months you need to edit it for any reason you can do this. If no changes or edits are needed, Orange allows you to add another magic number and this carries on every 6 months, with you having unlimited free calls to these numbers.

If there is anthing you think I have missed in my review please feel free to let me know.

Summary: Although Orange does have some bad points i think the plus's over rule!!

I've had good service with Orange too and have been with them for about a year now. I love the way they have easy to understand packages.

I told them I was switching to o2 for the simplicity deal (no phone) 600 mins /1200 txts w/ free Bolt On i.e. Unlimited Internet and Orange gave me 650 mins and unlimited txts for £15 per month with 10% discount :D They also do 2 for 1 cinema tickets Orange Wednesdays ...but who goes to the cinema on Wednesdays? :P Always worth looking around as networks will do whatever they can to keep you as a customer.
