Advantages: Good deals, easy to top-up
Disadvantages: Poor network converage.
Orange is the mobile phone network I have used the most over the years and the one I am still using the most to this day.
In the UK, Orange is one of the few most commonly used networks. This is good, as it means you can top-up your phone in most shops, either by buying a voucher or using a top-up card. You can also top-up your phone online on the orange website, or by phoning them, which is also very handy, for example if the shops are shut.
Orange has a good variety of tariffs (known as "animal packages") to suit different people's needs, either on PAYG or on contract. For example, if you mainly text people, the "Dolphin Package" would probably be the best option for you and does work out good value - better, generally, than other network's tariffs.
The quality of customer service with Orange varies drastically, depending on who you get through to. For example, once after I phoned them up I was told (very rudely) that I must phone back later as the "system's down", and I wouldn't get a refund for the 25p I had spent on the privilege of getting told this. However, sometimes when you phone up they are very helpful, and even give you free stuff such as free MMS messages. But, in my opinion, you should not have to spend 25p on customer service, as that should be provided for free, especially when you are usually phoning up about something which isn't your fault!
Without network coverage, a network is absolutely pointless. This is one problem I have with Orange: even though where I live has perfect signal according to their website, in reality I have no signal most of the time meaning it is near impossible to make or receive a phone call and annoying for texts as I usually receive them at least an hour late!
To conclude, I would say Orange is a reasonably good network. But, before changing to Orange, you should do your own research into whether you will have network coverage in your area, as you clearly can't trust Orange's judgement! As for deals, however, Orange is generally a good network to be with.
Summary: Good deals, shame about the lack of network coverage!
