Advantages: Great Nationwide Coverage
Disadvantages: Expensive Call Charges
First, let me start by saying that vodafone's service when it come to coverage is first rate. I have allways had a good strong signal where ever I have used it. When I first signed up to vodafone, the tarifs where very cheap - 5p of peak and 6am - 6pm peak times. You did however have to top up with a £15 voucher every 60 days. Vodafone then brought out Allcalls. This tarif has more expensive off-peak calls, but there was no voucher expiry. I changed to this and it cost me £5 to do so. (I don't have a problem with the charge). But then the hours of peak changed to 7:30am to 7:30pm making the overall cost higher of call alot higher. All the other networks have peak hours of 7am - 7pm. Then came smartstep in which the first 3 minutes of the day are 25p and 5p afterwords. Both these "new" tafifs worked out more than bt cellnet and 121. Now anyone could say, just change mobile company. But when they charge you £35 just to unlock your phone to put a differnet sim card in, and add the cost of the new sim card from the new network, it is a lot of money for a student to spend. The mobile companys can change tarifs and be uncompetitive cause they have made it difficuly to change tarifs. I hope vodafone make there tarif more competitive or else I will be forced to change to a cheaper network if i can afford it.
