Advantages: Large range of Price Plans, Inexpensive Top-Up Cards, 99% UK Coverage
Disadvantages: Cheaper phones
Ever since buying my first ever mobile phone, I have only ever chosen Vodafone, as even back then Vodafone was always a popular choice with most people. The reason I went for a 'Pay As You Talk' scheme was because I didn't fancy the idea of being tied into a 12 month contract, and then waited with baited breath as the mobile phone bill dropped onto the mat (I like to chat), so the best option was the pay as you talk. When I originally bought the phone, Vodafone only had 1 tariff available which was 'Original', they now have would you believe 5, yes 5 different tariffs, one to suit everyone's needs, whether you do a lot of text messaging, mainly weekends, or not very much at all. Below is a breakdown of each tariff:- FIRST STEP Standard local/national & voicemail Daytime (mon-fri)=40p eve & weekends=10p Vodafone 2 Vodafone calls Daytime (mon-fri)=40p eve & weekends=5p Calls to other networks Daytime (mon-fri)=50p eve & weekends=30p Text messages = 12p SMARTSTEP First 3 mins=25p Rest of calls=5p First 3 text messages=12p rest=9p NEXT STEP Daily min spend=50p of calls & text messages per day. Daytime, eve & weekends=10p at all times. Text messaging=10p ALL CALLS Mon-fri daytime=35p and 10p for evenings Sat-sun daytime=10p and 5p for evenings ORIGINAL DAYTIME AND EVENINGS Standard Peak=35p and Off peak=2p Calls to Vodafone Peak=35p and Off peak=5p Calls to other networks Peak=50p Off Peak=30p Voicemail Peak and Off Peak =0p Text messages Peak and Off Peak = 12p WEEKENDS Standard=2p Calls to Vodafone=5p Calls to other networks=30p Voicemail=0p Text messages=12p Vodafone covers 99% of the UK and have many other benefits with their network which include the following:- SCOOT - Dial 333 from your phone and you can find the nearest pizza place etc... AA ROADWATCH
- Dial 2222 for up to the minute traffic reports. 192 - This one pretty much explains itself TEXT ALERTS - Choose to receive text alerts via their internet site on either horroscopes, weather, news, sport or music. When wishing to top up the credit on your phone you can either buy top-up cards in eithre £5, £10, £15, £25 or if you are feeling rich £75 denominations. You can also use electronic swipe cards, which most shops now accept (and the money gets credited to your phone within 10 minutes), or you can even use your credit/debit card either over the phone or the internet. Vodafone also have a very good customer support team who are always very helpful and try to help rectify any problems you may be having. However, if you need to talk to an operator, there is a flat rate fee of 25p for the call. I'm very glad that I chose Vodafone as my mobile network provider, as I feel that they have the largest range of tariffs available, and as previously mentioned there should be something to suit everyone, also their top-up cards are not too expensive, they have the best coverage and also stock all the latest phones. What more could you want from one of the UK's largest network providers.

- 13/11/01 You know, if you talk a lot then you'd probably have been much better off with a contract (for the free minutes) - especially as you are using an expensive network in Vodafone.
You 9;d have got a free phone out of it too... |
