Advantages: cheap package, good service, great if you know other plusnet users

I was quite surprised to see so many negative reviews about plusnet. When I moved out 6 months ago they seemed like a good choice for me, as both of my parents and my sister used them for their phone and internet, and you get free anytime calls to other plusnet numbers.

Combine this with the fact that BT had told me that the phoneline for my house had been disconnected due to its previous vacancy, and wanted to charge me £120 to reconnect it! However, when I phoned plusnet not only would a reconnection have been cheaper than that, but they actually found that I hadn't been disconnected after all. Now, I'm aware that this isn't the same as reconnecting me for free, but they definitely got customer service bonus points for not cheating me out of my money when I was already prepared for a reconnection fee.

The man who helped me set up my account was very helpful and friendly, and my package is about £17 a month for phone and 10GB broadband, fantastic value without having to resort to talktalk. It took about two weeks from my first phone call before I was actually connected, but I believe this is normal where a dormant line is involved - and I was never led to believe that it would be up and running immediately!

I have no idea if their current customer service is any good as I have never been given cause to phone up in the last 6 months.

Summary: In my experience, plusnet have been a fairly priced and reliable ISP.
