RingItOnLine has been spun out of Atlantic Telecom and provides an excellent and very competitive service for both UK and international calls.

All UK calls are 2p/minute at any time from any telephone provided you can dial an 0800 freefone number for free. This UK rate is great if you are travelling or have children away from home. You can use it from hotels, university phone systems, friend's phones, anywhere. However don't use it from BT phone boxes, as there is a hefty surcharge.

It is also cheaper to use this service from home for all peaktime calls and evening national calls. Cable customers specially benefit, as they will not be charged the usual 5p connection charge for accessing the 0800 number. RingItOnLine charge you per second and the minimum charge is 3.5p. There is no set up or monthly fee.

Some international rates are very cheap, eg 2p/minute to USA and 4p Australia. Visit their website for latest rates.

Accessing the service is longwinded, but you can do it from any touchtone phone. You dial the access code and wait for the message, then enter your account code and PIN, you will be advised of your balance and then you can enter the number you want. However at home you can set up an autodial on most phones and on some you may find you can program in a pause and then your account and PIN, so it can be no trouble to use, and well worth it to save some money.

If you have a BT line you can register your phone and then access the service with just a four digit access code. However DON'T do this use this if you also want to set up a pay-later account with Atlantic which offers you really cheap local calls. You can't have two different sorts of account with Atlantic; the way round this is for you to set up one account and your spouse/partner/over-18 child/lodger to set up the other.

You can request to set up an account on line, vivit their site and fill in the form and they will ring you
back. PLEASE say that you were recommended by account holder no: 1641874.

You will need to deposit a minimum £20 (plus VAT = £23.50) to open the account using a credit or debit card and set up a direct debit or continuous credit card authority to top the account up. You will receive quarterly itemised bills.

Recommend all your friends and family and receive a £5 credit to your account.
