although screaming.net is technically over to world online i feel some things really should be set straight. i joined screaming net before they were even operational. i found the service superb at first, dial ups straight in first time, speeds were good, the website was extensive and frequently updated. unfortunatly standards started to drop as more people started to join. dialling in took hours and hundreds of retries, billing went totally screwy and the press slagged them off like crazy. pretty soon they were on top of the situation and extended they servers and added more lines, things were looking better. the helplines were severely understaffed ... Screaming net... Immediately makes you think "NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO" However, the exact opposite is true. There is the option to have screaming net with normal phone calls, or if you change your phone company to World Online, you can have free phone calls after 6pm weekdays 24hrs Sat/Sun, included in line rental, or you can pay £5 extra line rental and have 24hr free phone calls, 7 days a week. So, for around £20, you get no other charges. The service used to be slow, and there are occasionally still problems when trying to log on to the net, but Screaming have updated their systems, making it easier to log on first time now. You are supposed ... Read the complete review

I joined screaming.net the very first day that it became available. It took an eternity to change my phone supplier from BT, and the service was the worst I have ever experienced. It could sometimes be 50 re-dials before |I would connect, and the connection was so slow it would be impossible to play games or download large files. That was then, and this is now - the service is excellent. No engaged tones, fast access, and free 24/7, the service is as good as it gets. The service has been taken over by World Online, and the prices went up slightly (about £10 per month), but everthing is still fast and reliable. I think that the negative publicity that ... I have been with screaming.net for nearly a year now. I am well pleased with it. I used to get a humongous phone bill (cos of the net) before screaming. The main problem I got was actually being transfered over to Screaming from BT, which took 7 weeks (and not 7 days as advertised). I've had not other major problem with it, apart from the odd disconnections, although sometimes it takes a few attempts to actually connect to the server. Screaming has now been taken over by World Online, but that hasn't caused any major problems. However, Worldonline gives the added option of having free internet 24/7 for £15 a month (which ...
