About a year ago our family where phoned by a company going by the name of Sky Dial 1602.The aim of the company the person that phoned us told me was to offer savings on local phone calls by typing in 1602 before you called,the service was meant to be free.
In the April of this year I received my VISA bill to finds that Sky Dial 1602 had billed me £24.00 for using the service,So obviously I rang up VISA to question the bill.They said they would contact the company who would be given 21 days to give VISA receipts for the bill.21 days passed and still no receipts from the company so VISA consequently sent us a letter telling us they would repay the money Sky Dial had taken out back into my account.
Months passed and a month(probably to make you forget about them)they billed me again for near enough the same amount.This time I was enfuritated and wrote to the company to ask them to cancel my account.After returning from holiday I had received a letter from the customer relations officer at Sky Dial confirming that my account was closed and that the recent bill had been generated for calls on the 16th of November,2000!!Well considering that date was still 2 weeks away I was now very suspicious of the company.She said she had taken the liberty to enclose the bill and to my estonishment it showed the destination of all the calls and they where all to the same number ENERGIS.Obviously I hadn`t made around 50 calls to the same number and hadn`t even heard of the place and took it up with VISA again who are going to reclaim the amount.On the letter it gave me a number to ring for the company,I tried this number and just got a dead tone.I rang Directory enquiries to find out if the number existed to find that the number had never been issued.It did say at the bottom of the letter that the Registered company was Broadsystem Ventures Ltd.I found the number of a company going by a name similar to find that the company had nothing todo with Sky Dial and had received simi
lar phone calls from other people who had the same problem as me.It occurs to me that they knew they now had the money from the last bill,my account was now closed so by giving me a false phone number they had the cash they wanted and I couldn`t contact or trace them.
Another thing they play on is the fact they must only have contacted Sky Subscribers,so when you look down your credit card bill you perhaps wouldn`t notice it and even if you did you would think it was connected to your Sky monthly payment.
So my advice is to be aware of this company and if you are phoned don`t sign up to it.I would be interested to hear of anyone who has had the same troubles.
