Advantages: nectar points, cheap (for a reason)

Disadvantages: rude, useless customer services, no communication with customers, cheap in all areas of the company

Currently Talk Talk have a really horrible press and reputation and up until around 2 months ago i would have posted a good review about them, having very few problems in getting them to set up my phone and broadband for my shop. Thing is you're then locked in for 18 months with them!

Once connected don't expect to be able to get through to them, internet customer service response is a few days and phone wait times are around 15 minutes (in my experience) with the person i spoke to being very rude and patronising.

Pro's:-

Cheap.
Nectar points
Free evening and weekend calls on certain tariffs

Con's:- best explained in the following story...

I moved shops (3 doors down) to a larger place for my business and obviously needed to move the landline and broadband. After talking to Talk Talk i thought it would simply move within 2 weeks (as stated on the phone) and be sorted. Anyway 3 weeks pass and nothing seems different, no dial tone, nothing.

Therefore i ring them and ask what the delay is. They claim that they couldn't ring me to confirm the engineer coming out to sort the line and that i had the wrong number listed with them, this is a lie since i haven't changed my mobile number in around 2 years.

I asked why they didn't e-mail me then, they claimed they hadn't got my e-mail address. Now this is just an outrageous lie since i receive my bills through e-mail! and it's on my account as i can see it.

When the engineer finally arrived some 4 weeks later he told me there was no instruction to put internet on the line! and that the number was different to my old one but that Talk Talk should be able to resolve that.

I therefore phoned Talk Talk and asked about the internet and change of number and was told that the number chang is standard for them and they can't move my old number over, nor can they re-direct calls to my new number....meaning im now a business listed in some directories under the wrong telephone number!!!! a nightmare and completely unprofessional. The internet i was told would go active 'within 30 days of the line being active', around 2 weeks later this went live (no letter to tell me that though so i had to phone to find that out too!).

I'm disgraced at Talk Talk and although looking in the smaller print on the 'Moving Home' section, i now see the number change problem, i think its ridiculous not to be able to move your number. Also despite them arguing and checking the recording (supposedly) they claim they told me on the phone about it (if they had i would have been expecting it and not as frustrated!)

Needless to say i shall not be sticking with them when my contract expires (£70 cancellation otherwise!), roll on August.

Cheap for a reason, pay a bit more, it'll be worth it in the long run!

Summary: cheap in all areas of the company
