Advantages: none
Disadvantages: unreliable, poor customer service
I have been on the internet for over 5 yrs and have been with a lot of service providers. So when I heard about blueyonder and the hi-speed internet service i thought yes that is for me. I called and payed my money for install £50 and the first month up front and waited on installation.I couldnt wait to have a fast connections up to 10 to 15 times faster than my 56k. At first it was fine and there was no problems but as the months went on there was the odd hickup, the modem acting up and it seemed a bit slow at times but we put it down to teething problems. But over the last 2 months the word nightmare springs to mind sometimes all we have is a can't display page and we can't get on the net even though it shows the modem is on, basically the lights are on but no-one is at home. So i phone the help line the free phone number they provide that is know 24 hrs service and wait and wait and wait and some times wait some more,I must be the most patient person on the face of this earth one night i waited for 3 and a half hours but no one answered. I have called on a number of occasions over the last few months spending anything from 40 minutes to 3hrs 30min waiting for a reply. On one accasion being told you are in the wrong Q and i will transfer you, only to but put back in the wrong Q again, and on the 3rd time got thru to an operator only for her to take my details and then cut me off thinking common sense will provale as she had my details she will call me back. I waited and waited but no one called so again had to wait in a Q for someone else that day i spend 2hrs and 20 minutes on the phone. I have had a refund twice for the problems i am having as i can not rely on the connection. And if you send a email be prepare to wait on a reply because they say it is 24 hr but it is more like a week. And after writing all this i still have a open case with them.

- 29/12/02 Someone had a bad experience and can rate Telewest so badly that they'd now be out of business if the majority took notice!
Not everyone has the same problem.
I waited a year before the broadband option came to my area, then had a nightmare getting them to take the money to connect it - local office couldn't find what to accept it under! I had to go to Sheffield and refuse to leave until they did something...<G> It worked, they got the details they needed (I went with everything to hand, like a/c number etc.) and took some cash - by which time I'd dropped down the queue by a week. I complained and got back my '2 days from now' appointment.
They came, they installed and nearly 2 years later I've only had a couple of hours here and there in downtime. OK, I don't monitor it 24/7 and I know there have been some times during the night when it has not been active, but I'm usually in bed by then!
Started with the standard offering, then moved to 1Mb connection and simply have no complaint, other than the things BY can do nothing about - like web pages being slow to appear.
I'm just about to set up a home network so we'll have 2 PC's sharing the connection, until now we've restricted access to one computer as everyone else in the house had limited needs - but once they get the bug... |
