Being one of the early subscribers to the Telewest SurfUnlimited service I was prepared to be less than impressed. In the early months I was. The connections were hard to make, repeated disconnections, and lethargic speeds. Complaining to the Customer Services got a fairly non-committal reply that could have been better phrased - it summarised almost to "What do you expect for such a low cost?".

As time passed however, patience was rewarded with an increasingly reliable service. Connection problems became rare, and speed improved generally - still a bit feeble at the peak times but bearable all the same.

My bandwidth demands have risen and led me to now go for an ISDN connection via BT, which is 3 times the price and only occasionally shows superior speed. If I was reverting to an analogue line connection I would undoubtedly return to Telewest.
