Advantages: NON!
Disadvantages: Worsening service
The wild west re-visited. Howdy partner! Well I did promise to update the Telewest saga. Read the opinion "Telewest more like the wild west and Telewest-wildwest re-visited" for background reading. So for your edification here is chapter three of my "war and peace" with Telewest. So what are my feelings after the first month? The Phone service continues to be good, I have not had any problem at all. However, on my first bill I noticed that I had been charged for phone calls made by the installation crew to Telewest in Leeds. The TV service is very good and the picture freeze problem has cleared up. I wonder what Telewest will do now that the BBC are taking over the old ITV Digital network and giving 24 digital stations for free? I cant see how they can continue to charge for services in the premium package that will be available for nothing elsewhere. The broadband is not as good as I had anticipated. The main problem being.... After a week or so the broadband service quit. I had a long conversation with the technical support staff by phone. The Ultra Fast fault repair service turn out to be a four day wait. So much for the clims made by Telewest for fast fix service. Now I wonder what will happen once the redundancies are made. I expect the repair service will be much longer than the current four day wait. This has been a slightly better experience than the first time Telewest visited. However there is still in my opinion room for significant improvement. I would not advise anyone to take on the Telewest options until the staffing changes have taken place and the record on customer support has been improved. Regards Michael

- 10/06/02 Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome to the dooyoo site. I must admit that I was feeling a bit urinated on by Telewest that day. It was also my birthday as well.
So what is the latest on the Telewest saga:-
Telewest have assumed the position (cringing and fawning). I have had a long chat on the phone with a senior staff member.
Brief summary, I understand that the customer support staff member is to be given some "remedial" customer focused training. My initial deposit has now been returned into to my bank account. Telewest will be doing the installation on the 14th of June. (using different "best trained" installers) As a gesture Telewest will do the whole installation for free.
So I shall report back on how well the installation goes. With some follow-up later on the quality of the telewest broadband service.
Take care and once again thanks for the welcome.
