Advantages: free calls 24-7 for only £50
Disadvantages: cuts off after 1 hour
Recently I have signed up with the freeinternet group (tfi) which is an internet service provider. I had Btclickfreewhich was a good provider by did not offer free call charges. They charged a local call rate, which was 1p a minute off-peak and 4p a minute peak time. I use the Internet quite often so I was spending about 30 hours a month online and running up a phone bill, which totalled up to about £30 a month. This was very expensive so I had to see if there was a better provider, which offers cheaper call rates. My friend was reading a national newspaper where he came across an article, which highlighted a number of different ISPs and looked at their features in detail. I was just about to sign up with BT who was offering free calls off-peak for £10 a month. This seems better than the one I was using so I though that I might give it a try. My friend told me that he had seen a really good provider called the free internet group in the paper and they were offering free call charges every hour of the day for £50 a year. I thought he was joking when he told me this but I went round his house and saw the article myself. It was true!!. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the deal that they were offering. This seemed unbelievable and I immediately asked him what the catch was to this deal. There was no catch, so I though why not sign up for it? I visited the website (www.thefreeinternet.com) to find out more information and to try and sign up for this amazing deal. I got onto the website and filled in all the forms and within minutes I was hooked up. All your have to do is fill in all your details and credit card details and then download their dial-up software which only takes a few minutes. I immediately hooked onto the net and started surfing. The Internet was normal and everything seemed perfect. I was surfing and it was all for free. That was the best feeling of all. After about one hour of surfing I got disconnec
ted. I thought that this was a one off and that it would not occur again. It did happen again and I realised that the connection always disconnected after one hour. This was a bit of a downer and it was a bit silly of the company not to mention this in the newspaper article. I was not to disappointed though as I only had to reconnect again and it was not that much of a bother. This would only be bad if you were downloading large files and needed to be on their non stop. This was not the case for me and the only thing that I was bothered about was that the call charges were free. The best thing about the free Internet is that you can use it any time of the day and it will be free all the time. This means that if you had the whole day off and you had nothing to do all day you could go on the Internet and it would still be free. Unlike with BT, I would have been paying 4p a minute to use it at peak time so I would usually have to wait till 6pm till I got connected which was very annoying. The free Internet charges work out at £3 a month and this is unlimited access. This seems to stand out above any of the other providers and it is well worth getting. Recently the free Internet has increased their yearly charges to £90 because of more people taking an interest in them. This is still a very good deal though and should not be overlooked. The people who did sign up when it was only £50 will still have to pay £50 a year instead of £90 which is good news for me.
