Advantages: Low prices
Disadvantages: Poor fulfillment, Customer service in India. Bureaucratic nightmare to get anything done
I decided to take out a three phone because of a special offer they had. I rang their sales line to place my order. I was promised my mobile phone would arrive the following day.
I spent the whole day waiting at home; it didn't arrive. The following day I rang three and they told me I needed to be credit checked. That was done then and there.
I was told my phone would then arrive the next day. It didn't arrive. I then tried ringing again. Nobody in the Sales team in the UK would speak to me. They kept putting me through to people in India. Those people have abysmal English. I had to give my postcode to one of them seven times and even then he couldn't enter it correctly; the other person I had to give my postcode to four times.
They told me that I had to ring ParcelLine regarding my delivery. Every time I rang ParcelLine I was kept on hold for at least half an hour and then they would tell me they were not responsible.
I tried cancelling my delivery after a few more hours on the phone to three with no resolution to the issue and they wouldn't even let me cancel my order. They said I had to receive the phone and then return it. A total Catch 22 because they kept sending it to the wrong address.
To cut a long story short, it is now a week later and I haven't received my phone. In total I have spent about five hours on the phone to three and spoken to about 30 different staff members.
The customer service is absymal once they've taken your order. It's a classic ploy: slick sales staff in the UK and then, once they've taken your credit card number, you can't speak to anybody in this country and have to suffer dealing with people with poor English and an in ability to actually get anything done.
They don't give a damn. Whenever you try to call for help, they put you through to people in India who they are undoubtedly paying mediocre wages. The staff in India don't have the foggiest idea what they are doing, don't have a grasp of even three's own services, and keep contradicting each other.
Once they have your order your only point of contact with the company is people on the other side of the world using lies by pretending their names are 'Peter' and 'Paul' who barely speak English.
A complete joke of a company. If you want to suffer endless stress then three is your perfect partner. Otherwise avoid them.
Summary: Avoid three unless you want to suffer endless problems

- 30/03/07 Good advert for their phones when their call centre staff can't understand you!!! |

- 25/03/07 The review would have been better at the end of the saga, because often people rant whilst in the process and then find when everything is resolved, the service offered is actually not that bad. Rachel X

- 25/03/07 I know people who have actually gotten the phones only to discover poor area coverage and nearly complete inability to actually use said phone. |
