Advantages: Cheap and fab customer service if you get through to the UK team.
Disadvantages: Occasional line drops
I'm going to go against the grain here and give tiscali a good review.
You see on noticeboards and websites all around that people don't like Tiscali and have had nothing but bad service. I on the other hand have a different tale to tell.
I have been with tiscali for about 3-4 years now and yes I do get drops on my line and the occasional slow speed but you get that with most providers, no-one can guarantee you excellent service 100% of the time, it's impossible. The drop outs come back up as does the speeds.
With regards to customer service, it can be hit and miss, if I get through to an Indian call center then things do get lost in translation but recently I only ever seem to get through to either somewhere in Liverpool or Scotland and each time my call has been handled politely and effectively. I work in a call center myself so I always secretly assess my advisers responce to my query and whilst it's true they don't get 100% trained on how to take calls to the best of their abilities, they do get the job done and maintain promises to do any follow ups.
My one gripe is that I have been trying to sign up to Tiscali TV but this hasn't gone well at all as they keep provisioning the wrong number, one call through to the UK based team got this sorted straight away.
Tiscali also have a forum with people who work for Tiscali who can help with problems, this can sometimes take longer to get the problem sorted, but because everything is written down and easier to digest, then you get better help.
There are happy customers out there.
Summary: With all things, you get what you pay for.
