Advantages: free landline calls

Disadvantages: overcharge and have no principles

Be warned. Double check everything.

I am with tiscali but I can't say I'm their number one fan. When I joined last February I was lured by their phone and internet bundle of £19.99 (exc. VAT) and left BT at expense to myself.

A couple of months later when I was expecting a bill of early twenties I was bet with a bill for £29. So I rang and queried it. It was then I was told that in my area they didn't have full internet reach and as such I would have to pay an additional £8.25 a month line rental. When I queried this and asked why I hadn't been told I would be charged for this the lady said "oh its an oversight on our parts, you shouldn't be being charged for this."

So i didn't check and four moths later I'm back in the same place. and even now I'm paying around £28-29 pound. I have emailed extensively and queried it and asked where in the contract it said that I would be charged for line rental but nada.

Just be warned. Sometimes the price isn't what it seems. And i'll be leaving them in February because I think they broke their initial agreement with me. As a novice to the internet I didn't really know the pitfalls. With every lesson learned comes experience.

Advantages - local phones are free anytime during the day, evening and weekends. For me, this is still an advantage because I am on a PAYG mobile, but as I work all day it only has the advantage of evenings and weekends. It's a pity most of my friends no longer have a land line so I can take full advantage!

Another advantage is the broadband speed and ease of use. Their has been no problems with the internet or the phone, only the price.

As the comment says definitely read the small print, and ask questions such as, if they discover that your area isn't in one of their speed broadband regions will you be penalised?

Summary: check their small print!!
