Disadvantages: You get your speeds capped at most times and have stuff you realy need to read
I use to be with ntl broadband til they changed there hands over to virgin how ever its still ntl/vergin now but under one roof. I moved away from virgin to sky for a number of reasons..
I was very happy with them when they use to be NTL as there speeds where not caped and you could download to your harts content with out having to worry about your speeds been capped at tea time..
When i got my letter through the door explaining that my services where changing and even my prices where going up i got on the phone and made some inq as to what was going on i later found out that my isp had moved from NTL to virgin and i knew what was going on before i made the call.
I noticed a drop in the quality of calls to there customer support the broadband services where been capped every time i said my speeds are going very slow and am paying for there 10meg services they said what proof do you have as to your speeds been slow i sent them an email with all the proof they needed and then they admitted to me that the line had been capped as i was going over my usage limit.
At that point i said to them what usage limit as when i was in contact and 10meg i had the T&C's in black and white stating unlimited but also noticed in the small print fair usage policy and could not go over something like 40gig in a month.
Me been a dj/producer can download that in a week for samples and add-ons and tools needed for my work.. Fro mwhat i tested i seen they where capping my speeds right down to 1meg and at most times through out the month i couldn't get on download or even talk to friends online.
Again when i spoke to customer services they dint want to know and i said ok i will cancel my services and they started to listen to me after talking o the phone hours on end.
After 3 or 4 months or having to put up with my line been capped over and over i couldn't put up with it any longer and deigned to move my services over to someone called bethere.co.uk.
There offer is 24meg broadband on a bt line yes 24meg broadband the price of it was £17 per month and it was truly unlimited.
Speeds was never capped no problems for a good part of 8 to 10 months and had a problem on my line and they couldn't seem to find any problems on it and said that its my problem not there's.
In the end i got into a dispute with them and even went to ofcom and ofgem until it got sorted and then left there services.
I left there services because they got sold out by O2 and there services and alot of other stuff went down hill and cant really explain here..
I am now with sky and not yet and hope for a long time i wont have any problems with there services and i am sure going to be doing a review any time soon about there services and a lot of stuff everyone should know about them and all there services.....
Summary: Make sure if you are with Virgin to check there small print and there T&C's before signing up
