Advantages: Fast reliable broadband

Disadvantages: Customer services, prices

I have been a customer of Virgin Media for a number of years (Formally an NTL customer)

I have to admit, before they turned into Virgin, I had no problems whatsoever with NTL. The service was always fine, never had any faults or problems, broadband speeds were fine. I was also put on a really great deal by retentions.

Recently I have seen a change (since becoming Virgin Media) things have slowly gotten worse. My deal was taken off of me, when I called to cancel some services (needing to watch the pennies at the moment!) I was told in July I entered into a new 12 month contract and could not cancel any service without occuring charges. I disputed this, as I was never made aware of entering into any new contracts, I may aswell have been talking to myself, they wern't having any of it!

In the end I dropped all my packages to the lowest/cheapest (except broadband) however, since introducting their fair usage policy, I am constantly getting my connection capped!..even when I have NOT exceeded the download limit. It's ridiculous.

They just recently decided to not bother sending me bills, I called to find out why and could barely understand a word the customer service rep was saying (This is typical) Apparently I set up ebilling (I didn't!) and my bills have been going to an email address I have not used for years.

Their speeds and connection are reliable (I would get terrible speeds here if I went with any ADSL service) so except the silly capping issues, I really cannot fault their broadband service.

Television is fine. The V+ box (although black, bulky and ugly!) does a very good job hooked up to a HDTV. The picture is amazing. (Although Virgin, compared to Sky, have a serious lack of HD channels right now)

All in all, they are not THAT bad. I have had a few problems but generally the service recieved has been pretty good. Me and Virgin have somewhat of a love hate relationship. I don't like them but I wouldn't be without them!

Summary: You wont be dissapointed with their broaband service. (Just wont download alot before 9pm!)

Great review. Can't get cable out in the stix - used to be an NTL customer before I moved and found it great.

Strange, I haven't had any of these problems! They even gave me a discount when I threatened to go to Sky after VM lost the Sky premier channels. Sounds like the customer service is a bit hit and miss.

Bah these ISP's are all as bad as each other! Their customer service staff all need a good kick up the rear - you might guess that I'm not happy with mine either, although that's Tiscali! x
