Advantages: V+ box and its features are very useful

Disadvantages: Virgin are poor at paying out their advertised promotions

Note that this review relates to the V+ box and phone package from Virgin.

Positives:

Installation was relatively quick and painless despite the engineers having to drill through a wall to connect up my two V+ boxes.

The engineers explained how to operate the boxes and gave instructions.

The boxes are quite easy to operate and certain V+ box features, like being able to record from the TV and pause, rewind and fastforward live TV are really useful! We do pay £60 a month for our package though which is quite a bit!

The boxes have operated entirely satisfactorily since we got them in November 09.

Negatives:

Virgin seem to be a bit reluctant to pay out on the incentives that they advertise so widely. For example we responded to an advert in the paper that said that we could receive certain bits of our package free for two months, explained this when we called to join and were told everything was fine. However it was never deducted! Cue lots of phonecalls to get this sorted out.

Similarly, I have twice referred people through their "refer a friend" scheme and have not been awarded the promised £30. Although I eventually got this both times through complaint e-mails.

I would normally be a bit more forgiving with this kind of thing but it does seem to be a recurring pattern of behaviour for Virgin.

Summary: Good package from Virgin but they need to improve on paying out their incentives
