Virgin Media, awful service, is it actually a company?
Member Name: gemmer89
Advantages: err, none
Disadvantages: Awful customer service, high prices, the list is endless.
Join Virgin Media if you want to be messed around more than anything, and you have unlimited patience and money.
My relationship with Virgin Media has not gone well over the years. They went through a blunder of charging me and the people I live with for internet, after we asked them to change the internet over to my account and cancel it for theirs. This went on for over a year, they wouldn't cancel it, I ended up having to be owed nearly £300. When they eventually realised their mistake, I went through another year of constantly phoning them to get my money back, if this was the other way around Virgin Media would be charging my interest and issuing court summonings. After this whole year of waiting for my money back, trying to control my temper countless times and being shunted from department to department constantly, I was eventually issued a cheque for the amount owed. They said for an extra two months that we'd been double charged I'd have to claim that again, I left it.
The disgracefulness of their customer service is something I've never encountered before. You are shunted from department to department, or put on the phone with someone that you cannot understand too well. Their waiting lines of annoying music is attrocious and I would not recommend them to anyone.
They overcharge also, I am currently on freeview so no tv, we have broadband and the landline with them, we only use the landline to receive the calls as we all have mobile phone contracts, they are charging us nearly £80-£100 a month for this. We never use the landline, and you can tell this from the bills that we get where no calls are made. I think if you want to brave Virgin Media, and it's diabolical service, then you are best to get one of their prearranged packages, so you're not overcharged. We are moving house soon and saying goodbye to Virgin Media. I hope I never see it again.
If you are a first time buyer of cable and internet, I would recommend Sky, I had to go a year with extra money being taken out of my account when they wouldn't listen. I had to do all the chasing to make them realise and also to make them give me the money back. Sky may be a tiny bit more expensive, but you get more for your money, and when dealing with them for my Uncle I've had no problems.
Awful service, would not recommend to anyone.
Summary: If you have high levels of patience, unlimited amounts of money, these are for you.
