Advantages: Good selection of phones and price plans

Disadvantages: Really poor customer service

I've been with the Vodafone network for a little over six months, and like many others on the network I have mixed opinions about the company.

The main reason I chose Vodafone was that they are the only network providing the Blackberry Storm, which was the phone I particularly wanted. The contract they offered was competitive with other providers - £40 a month for 900 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data and unlimited calls to landlines. So far I'm pretty happy with this deal. So, the main good point about the network is that they offer a nice selection of contracts, which I imagine would make it easy for most people to find something suitable.

However, their customer service is very poor. I've had numerous problems with the handset, yet every problem I report I'm just told is a known problem with the phone and not something they can do anything about. This includes things like the phone switching itself off in the middle of calls, having very poor signal and battery life, crashing if I try to have more than one application open etc.

Their employees seem almost apologetic that they can't do more to help and often say that they have many customers making the same complaints, but the fact that they're polite doesn't really compensate for the fact that they can't resolve customers' problems!

I've used two of Vodafone's shops, firstly to purchase my phone and secondly to complain about problems with the handset. Neither of the shops had particularly knowledgeable staff, and they were no better than the helpline staff at resolving the problems with my phone.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend Vodafone. Perhaps if you don't have any problems with your phone or contract, and so didn't need to use their customer service department, they would be okay. But if you do have any difficulties that need resolving, they're really less than helpful.

Summary: Bad customer service outweighs the good points of this network
