Advantages: 'Appear' to genuinely want the best for their customers

Disadvantages: None found yet, I'll get digging behind the sofa..

Ahhh mobile phone companies. They remind me of airlines, all go the same place and offer the same function and use the same mode to get there but the degree of variation in what they offer can in some cases be immense. I sometimes think people forget just how big the mobile companies are these days, they really don't have any interest if you signed a two year contract and then lost the 'free' handset the next day and generally speaking I never have any reason to speak to my provider Vodafone, until recently and I have been mightily impressed.

My review will be, and should be, based solely on my own experience of them in the year I have been a customer.

I had a flirtation with 3, never again and then embarked on a long and monogamous relationship with O2, the less said about these clowns the better (a lot like my exes) but again with all these phone providers the proof of how good they actually are is in how they actually deal with their customers when a problem arises. O2 dealt with several of my problems in a dire manner, not one to be perturbed I sued them. They paid out before it got too far, another review for another day so as you can imagine I was keen to up sticks and move contracts.

Vodafone very kindly gave me a lump sum of cash to go and join them and a nice shiny new phone. In return I signed up for 18 months at £40 a month (direct debit) which got me unlimited calls, unlimited texts and unlimited browsing. For the last 12 months Ive been pottering along nicely receiving great signal, diligent and correct bills, occasional polite courtesy calls and decent Internet access. The call centre have been easy to speak to, based in the UK and have been very patient with my mindless queries. However over the last 12 months my circumstances have changed, I have a company mobile so no longer make an obscene amount of calls and no longer have the compulsion to text as much as I used to. But hey, I was on a contract and there is not a whole lot I can do about it.........

I was delighted this summer when Vodafone led the way by dropping roaming charges, now again I knew this was coming and hopefully by next year they will all be forced to but it was nice to know my phone provider was leading the way. Last night I received another call from Vodafone, the young guy mentioned my usage had changed and would I look to revert to another tariff. I am suspicious of such calls so asked him to verify he was indeed from Vodafone which he was. Following a general analysis of my call making habits by contract has decreased to £20 per month! Now if there is anything guaranteed to make me be a lifelong customer it is a company who takes the incentive and works for their clients not against them. Go Vodafone! The only alteration to my contract is I now only have 600 minutes a month of talk time, everything else remains the same. I also opted for a wireless dongle, admittedly this was a little more expensive at £7 a month but will be very handy for me at work and is still a great saving on my previous bill.

All in all I couldn't ask for anything more, and they are by far the best provider I have experienced.

Summary: A phone company offering to save the customer money?? Surely not!

Just wait until you try and leave! My other half had no end of problems and a bill for £180 suddenly appeared which there was no way was from him! Also, the roaming charges decrease stops on 30/08/2009. Good review of your personal opinion though.

I only used them for one phone and I was always very impressed with them. I'd like to go back actually :)
