Advantages: Great coverage, good price plans
Disadvantages: Average customer service, occasionally slow website
In January i was looking for a new phone on a new network after getting increasingly fed up with T-Mobile. After doing a bit of research and having a bit of a wander, i got a new phone on Vodafone.
900 minutes a month, unlimited texts, unlimited data for just under £40 a month, with a brand new top of the line smartphone for free. I was a happy person!
For a long time i had no issues with them. And to be fair, any issues i have had, havent been dealbreakers.
Network coverage has been really really good, 3G speeds have been great, and for the amount i use my phone, i really cant complain at the monthly cost. T-Mobile was costing me alot more due to their package limitations at the time, and the phone i had was basic in comparison to what Vodafone offered me.
Things have been relatively good. The website is very helpful and is full of good information to read before giving customer services a poke, and the my account section is great. Checking bills, sorting payments, checking allowances etc etc. It was fairly slow at first, but the website has sped up considerably and is now great to use.
The forum is a good place to go for advice, and your voice is heard. Vodafone have many staff members on there, and because you are airing your views in public, they will usually give you advice or get things sorted for you!
The Vodafone live hompeage when opening the browser on the phone looks alright, but i have never really used it. They are soon to replace this with something titled Vodafone 360 anyway!
Now, a few problems began to arise with my phone. They were there from the outset, but it only really sank in as time went on. On many phones, Vodafone brand their software, which isnt usually an issue. But on the phone i had, they hadnt updated it in well over a year, and the software that they had been pushing out wasnt fit for purpose. It was slow, buggy and made using the phone a chore. Which was a shame, as the phone was really good!
Many people had this view, so i contacted customer services a few times, and got the same generic responses back which annoyed me. I couldn't get across to them that a repair wouldn't fix anything!
So i went one step up and directly emailed someone very important at Vodafone. I got a phonecall response the next day, and within 3 days i had a brand new top of the line phone on the same deal for only extending my contract by 3 months. I was very happy with this, and after some average customer service to start, they really did their best for me and i can only thank them for that.
Overall i have been much more satisfied with Vodafone than on other networks, and i only hope that will continue.
Summary: A great network operator!
