Advantages: Cheap, good coverage
Disadvantages: Billing, Vizzavi, Texting is slow, offers also become confusing
That's what VODAFONE actually stands for, in case you wanted to know, which you probably didn't :) Having had a PAYG phone on One2One, and used ones on Orange and Virgin Mobile regularly- I bought a Vodafone mobile recently. The offer was too good to be true, free this that and the other... However, if you are on a contract there seems to be a catch- finding out what tariff you're actually on- or finding out how much things actually have/do cost you is nearly impossible. Basically, you wait- and pray until your bill comes... Also, buy from Voda Direct, they may be more expensive, but I'm with 4U, and currently they seem very pleasant and helpful- but say to phone Vodafone, and Vodafone seem all very plesant and helpful, and say to phone 4U! If you're with 1 company, this can't happen! Another thing I've noticed is that text messages take much longer to receive than with other networks. Also, Vodafone's email and sms service, Vizzavi is, in my opinion, a waste of space. The woman on the phone admitted that they sometimes have technical faults- replace the word sometimes with always and you're there. However, contracts are cheap, and coverage is fairly good- similar to Orange, but better than One2One in rural areas.
