Advantages: Fantastic customer service, great value
Disadvantages: Occasional slow connection speed
We had shopped around for a while, to find the right Internet service for us. In the end, we found it, courtesy of WHSmith. We have been connected for about six months now, and the service is excellent. We did have problems at first though. We were attracted to WHSmithNet because of it’s Flat Rate plan, which can be paid over Direct Debit. We signed up fine, but when we got our phone bill, it was sky-high with Internet call chargers. Obviously, we were confused. We were supposed to be on Flat Rate. We then phoned the Customer Service line, who were human, and were very helpful, and explained that we had not downloaded the Flat Rate package. We were then told how to do this, and they paid for half of the Internet call charges on our phone bill for us. That is my only criticism, just beware when you install, if you want to go onto Flat rate, make sure you install it correctly. We now receive an email each month, informing us that our bill is about to be paid using Direct Debit. Any problems with the service, such as the recent slow connection speeds, are swiftly and genuinely apologised for, via email. As we are high users of the Internet, using it for college, school and entertainment as well as general use such as email, it is fantastic value for our needs. I would recommend it to other high users of the Internet, and for others, investigate the other billing methods, such as Pay As You surf. This is a company which values its customers and treats them with respect, not something you come across everyday.

- 29/09/02 I have AOL and seeing as I seem to be the one customer who gets faultless service(*grin*) I don't think I'll be changing :o) |

- 29/09/02 They are not 100% brilliant! We had some trouble signing up with them, then even more trouble when we wanted to leave - their shortcut is still on our desktop and we can't get rid of the bleeding thing. Oh, and it might be more helpful if you outlines all the price plans that WHS offer, as I seem to remember there being about half a dozen. |
