I joined Screaming Net soon after they offered free Internet access evenings and weekends if you changed your phone line to Localtel. This was a fairly easy procedure and although the connection with Screaming was slow to start with it gradually improved.

Initially I found that contacting Localtel was a bit hit and miss but I lived with it.

Then World Online took over introducing 24/7 Internet access, great I thought. Then they withdrew the offer and increased prices. At this point I had already signed up with Redhotant.

I decided to return to BT after trying to contact World Online and kept getting an answer phone message service. The only way I could get back onto BT was by asking BT to inform World Online that the account was to be transferred to BT.

World Online eventually contacted me asking for payment. I disputed their bill and requested a fully itemised listing of all the services provided. This eventually they provided and once again I had to use their answer phone message service to ask where payment was to be sent, as I had cancelled my direct debit payments.

After I received the information on payment a cheque was duly sent. The last of World Online so I thought.

A week last Saturday I received two letters one from World Online confirming payment and closure of my account and the other letter from Direct Legal Collection requesting that I pay them for the outstanding amount owed to World Online. Several emails to both parties and I am still awaiting a definitive answer.

I would like to thank World Online of informing me that they were passing the collection of outstanding unpaid money onto a debt collector. I note it didn’t take long for World Online to refer the matter of an unpaid bill to a third party, I only wish that they would answer me as quickly as they referred the settlement of account to a third party, and the matter could have been resolved a lot quicker by me.
