Newest Review: ... liberty surf has confirmed that the service is no longer available. I am not worried that the service has gone though, as I only ever connected to it twice in 2 years! I just thought I would let everyone that it is pointless using x-stream now, as all of the money this company has is now been used for liberty surf - another company I would steer clear of! Also x-stream email servers have been come very unreliable now. It is a shame that this pioneer ISP is now more or less dead. ... more

For those of you who are still trying to use this ISP - GIVE UP! The 0800 advert has been taken off the site, the MD of liberty surf has confirmed that the service is no longer available. Premium Review X-Streamely Bad- The X-Streamely Critical Guide to the ISP (154 words)

As a great fan of the engaged tone I was delighted when I joined x-stream! I can now dial in at any time during off-peak and hear their beutiful tone! When it stops, I simply redial to hear it again! But, more seriously, X-Strem is awful. You'll never manage to dial into their freephone number because it's always engaged. Even their local rate access is slow, and to top it all their advertising banner that must be displayed whenever online is just plain annoying! There's also a lack of online help, poor email and the list goes on... X-Steam is part of Liberty Surf which is also known for its bad-ness, but at least X-Steam is free. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review x-stream.co.uk: Nothing but trouble (390 words)

I'm not personally attacking this ISP - I have nothing against them other than the fact service has been poor. X-Stream requires you to download its own software. I have no problem with that as it did not overwrite my DUN settings. However, the software provided is poor. It keeps on freezing my PC. The software has got odd moments when it does work, though. I still haven't figured out why it works some of the time and not any other time. Anyway, when I did manage to get the software working, it displayed a drop-down box where I could choose how I would like to connect to X-Stream - national rate, local rate or using an 0800 phone number. I selected the 0800 ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review You Pay for Nout (90 words)

And you get nout. X-Stream is shocking. At first it was great, it said off peak trial and I could get onto that no problem. Then after about a month the problems started. It took half an hour for me to connect each time. The hour disconnection seems a good idea, but after you are disconnected once it is impossible to get back on. A pity as the idea seemed good at first. I changed ISP's thankfully before the major problems occured and I recommend everyone do the same. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review x-stream.co.uk: easy to join, impossible to get online (238 words)
by - written on 07/12/00 (Very useful, 14 readings)

I read quite a lot of reviews about X-stream, saying that it was nearly impossible to dial up their server. Despite this I still decided to give them a try, as I had nothing to lose. I mean, I just went to their site, downloaded their zip file (1.5mb), didn’t take long. I went offline (from btinternet) and opened the zip file. The software inside was extremely easy to configure and understand. It made it clear what number I was dialling, so I wouldn’t be charged. All went well until I tried to dial up their 0800 number to open my new account with them. I tried ten times, and laughed, thinking about all the reviews I’d read about them! :) I was ...  Read the complete review
