X-Stream have been trialling 0800 access for some time now, from what I remember about one year ago they began.

At this time the concept was unique and no other ISP provided anything like free access on a free call number.

This trial resulted in a lot of people being unable to connect which considering it was a trial was to be expected.

Earlier this year, X-Stream relaunched the trial as an off-peak only service and I decided to give them ago. The phone number was changed and to begin with, connections were easy and I did not experience any problems.

However, over a period of about two weeks the service again became more difficult and I now do not bother because it is so difficult to connect too.

Also, during my experience of using the service, they seemeds to suffer from many server faliures, which resulted in problems sending e-mail and even getting connected.

The obvious advantage to this service is that it is totally free, but in my experience free also now means impossible.
