I have finally decided to write my first review on Binatone cordless iDect X2 Twin handsets .
I am not superstitious or anything so I want to share the not so pleasant experience I've had after buying this twin cordless model.
**Looks : 10/10
Absolutely gorgeous with its lovely Black fascia , very slim handsets and crystal clear screen ...and there is where the beauty ends I should say.
It doesn't weigh much either.
Base is small and trim.
**Screen : 0/10
Was crystal clear to start with which unfortunately got corrupt after two months of use...I can hardly make head or tail out of whats being displayed on it anymore... which is why most other features of the phone are really useless.(eg you can't really use the phone book if you cannot see who/what no is being displayed.)
**Ease of Use: 6/10
The buttons are just about ok for a normal medium sized had I would say but the keys do scratch very easily and now after several months of use the keys are giving up on me.
While I could still use the phone book needed to key in the whole lot for both the handsets (ie: phone book isn't shared between the two sets).
Phone book shares upto 200 numbers , but as I have already stated , it shut down on me.
The phone doe shave several ringtones which are very melodious though and can easily be set as can the ringer volume.
Reception quality I have to admit is surprisingly very good as though it says in the manual it is about 300mts..I have been able to take a flawless call even within my garage outside or at the very end of the garden too .
It has in-built answering an machine with recording time of 13-15 mins. Allows intercom facility between the two handsets too.
There is a childlock system available which also locks all important/emergency numbers.
I have used much better phones which were much reasonably priced .
Base has a glaring red light(when the handsets are on the bases) which is a bit uncanny at night/dark till you get used to it.
With the passage of time the battery life goes down quickly, funny because I have the same brand batteries in several other gagets around the house an dthey seem to be fine .
Keys become wonky and unreliable.
If the screen gives up so quickly what is the use of having the phone around at all.
I had bought the set for £ 56 from comet and think it was a total waste of money as I didn't really get as much use as I would have liked to out of it..though I had read good reviews about it so I am not sure if my phone is the only one that is a one off or the whole lot out there are dodgey.
