It's a good job (I think) that I was given this 'phone instead of buying it. This thing is about the most unreliable telephone I've ever used. The ringer is somewhat erratic and sounds as if it's being strangled at times. Quite often, although the number is shown on the lcd display, it fails to connect - even standing in front of the base unit it doesn't connect! Argh!!!! As is typical with this sort of device, there is the usual static and fade outs that one expects. The buttons are a bit too small for comfort and is easy to press two at the same time. However, it's not all bad. When it works, the call quality is rather good and it's a shame that it's so unreliable. for occasional use, I suppose it'll be ok - especially as this can be bought new for the paltry sum of twenty five to thirty pounds - and that includes an additional charger station so you can have it on charge over night by your bed and have the main unit in the lounge. I'm in two minds about this to be honest. I wouldn't have bought this phone myself, as I'd rather have a DECT phone but it's cheap
I love the freedom that you have with a cordless phone but until now have had to put up with 'gremlins' on the line sometimes. This would happen more often than not with the two previous cordless phones that we have had. I found that sometimes I could just pick up the handset and listen in on other peoples conversations. That is the last thing that you want when having some conversations. Well enough was enough so I decided to try the 'new' Dect phone system out. We purchased the Eurotel 1500 from our local Macro store. It was on special offer with an extra handset. I can't tell you how pleased I am with our purchase. We know get all the advantages of a corless phone with out the noise of the gremlins (hissing and crackling) or listening to other people. I have also benefited from the additional handset as we now have one in the bedroom as well as the hall. I can now pick up the nearest handset and walk as I talk!
I have just purchased a Binatone Pagasys Twin cordless phone. Having looked at a number of others in the shops and in catalogues, I am of the opinion that the Pegasys is probably one of the best value for money cordless phones around. The Pegasys at £19.99 consists of a base unit, TWO cordless phones and, would you believe, TWO chargers. You can also add further phones as required. The only problem, is that you cannot have bothe phones connected at the same time ( ie two people at your end talking to the other caller. There is also a pager facility, but no intercom. All in all though, A good phone for the money.
