      Basic but good phone

The phone comes with a recharging base and the handset is a plain black. It is nice and compact but it isn’t so small that I can’t leave it somewhere without worrying that I am going to lose it because it is so small.

It has a backlit screen on it which shows you the number that is calling. I like that it is lit because it makes it so much easier so see the number. You can also programme up to 50 names and numbers in the phone and if you have then the name comes up who is calling. It is also really easy to scroll through the programmed names to find who you want to call.

The charge on the handset is pretty good and lasts a couple of days off the handset on a single charge and maybe even a bit longer if you haven’t used it in that time. I speak on the phone quite a lot so I have never managed to see how long it would last on a charge without talking. It beeped loudly and annoyingly when the charge is running low so that you know to replace it on the base to charge it up again.

Sound quality is quite good and it sounds quite clear when I am on the phone. There is the occasional crackle but that could be from the person on the other side but for the most part it sounds clear. You can adjust the volume too so that you can turn it up or down depending on how good your hearing is.

The range of the phone is good enough to stretch throughout my entire house. When my sister calls me we like to have a good long natter so I go upstairs whilst my husband and the kids stay downstairs and I can sit in my room with the door closed which is basically on the other side of the house from the base and the phone works fine and doesn’t lose any call quality. I have also used it in the garden a few times with no problems.

I am glad we picked this phone over the other more expensive ones that my husband wanted. I don’t need an answer machine as I use 1571 and I didn’t need any fancy features. All I wanted was a phone that could make calls and sound clear with a good level of charge on it so I didn’t always have to be worrying about having it on the base and this fit the bill.
