      A nice simple phone

      It is not often I use the house phone anymore as I get so many minutes with my mobile phone contract and calling a mobile from a landline is very expensive. Part of my sky, broadband package is a landline though so I have a house phone to make the most of the deal. The only people who ever call me though are sales people and my gran! I have had this BT telephone for a few years and the reason I bought it was for the answer phone system. When you are hardly ever in it is quite useful that people can leave you messages. However if they tried me on my mobile I am sure they would more than likely be able to catch me on that!

      ==Price and availability==

      This model is widely available from stores such as Argos or other electrical stores such as Comet and online stores such Amazon.co.uk. The handset costs around £30.00. You only get one handset in the set but you can buy extra ones that will work with the answer phone kit.

      ==Description==

      The handset is black and slim with an LCD screen that displays the clock when not in use and the telephone number dialled when you are using the phone. The phone has easy to press buttons that are spongy and of a decent size. To make a call you need to dial the number and then press the call button, the handset them inputs the number and connects the call. It is fairly  quick whilst it executes this task. The phone has a red key to end the call and means you can leave the handset off the stand once the call is finished. The phone has a decent battery and will last a good 24 hours before it needs placing back on the stand to be rejuiced! The stand is black too with a display for the number of answer phone messages. It will flash when you have a new one. The stand is fairly small and discrete but still manages to have all the buttons that makes listening to messages easy such as play, pause delete and skip.

      The answer phone will kick in after a set amount of rings and if you are in, you will hear the introduction to leave a message and hear the person actually leave the message live, if you want to speak to this person you can interrupt them leaving the message by picking up the handset and answering the call. There is around 30 minutes of answer phone space to fill up. You can personalise the answer phone by recording your own greeting.

      There are volume controls for the Answer phone and for your calls. You can have the phone on speakerphone so you can use it while it you are getting on with your business. There is also a headphone jack so you use the phone with a headset if you want it for a business or more commercial use.

      ==My experience==

      The phone is quite sleek and stylish without having too many complicated features. The menu is easy to navigate and in terms of making a call and picking up voicemails it is quick and simple. You can even pick up your voicemails remotely. I'm not that popular however and tend not to bother with this. Another feature I have not bothered with is the facility to store numbers in the handset. For some reason when I first got the handset and programmed some numbers in, it deleted them. I could not be bothered to reprogram them so just left it. There is only a handful of numbers I tend to call and I can remember them all.

      Overall, I have not had a problem with this phone the ring tone is loud and it has a good range around the house. I am able to sit in the garden and use it without it losing connection to the base. The phone offers good clear reception and making phone calls is a simple and efficient process. I cannot complain about the handset and would recommend it.
