An affordable cordless phone is how I would market this, and that is true. But you most certainly get what you pay for. When the other person picks up on the other end of a call, they sound like they are trapped in a small room and echo's rebound from everywhere, you can hear about 5 voices at once! I boughlt this phone a few months ago and am really happy with it so far.Both the receiver and the base unit are nice and compact.Yet feel sturdy and well made.The reception is good when you are taking on it even quite a way from the base.
