I guess a home phone is pretty much a home phone? They simply make and receive calls. Some come with built in answer phones, but thats pretty much it. It will all be about the look of the phone and the choice of ring tones :)
For me, I am hot on mobile phones, but could not really care about home phones. I purchased these as BT generally has a good reputation of producing a decent reliable phone, made of good quality material. I did want Panasonic, but cannot really justify the price.
This is a twin set. One base which includes the answer phone, is plugged into the telephone line, the other can go anywhere in the house, as long as there is a power socket and within good range of the main base/answer phone.
They come in hard black plastic, with the buttons of soft rubber feel. The screen is of a blue colour, with black font. When on the base doing nothing, the screen blacks out. It only lights up when there is a telephone call (good if you have it in the bedroom).
The answer phone pretty much looks like a normal one. There is a display which flashes telling you if you have a new message. When listened to, it then shows the number of messages stored. You can delete these at any time with the del. button. There are also skip forward, skip back buttons aswell. The handy thing however is that if you are downstairs, you can listen to your messages on the phone. It then plays them out over a loud speaker.
I can hear the person at the other end if that helps? No but seriously, its pretty much fine. No issues with the quality, and pretty much the same as any other phone. Guess its really down to the phone line.
Another good thing about these phones is that you call one another with a one touch. If your in the bedroom and want a cup of coffee for example, just hit the int. button and it will call downstairs. What could Downton Abbey have been like if they had these phones uh? :)
This is pretty important. With these phones taking 2x AAA batteries, they are on constant charge, so will reduce capacity over time. However on a full charge, you can talk for 10hours. When not on charge, they will be on standby for 100hrs without a charge.
The phone will be able store upto 50 names and numbers. It also stores the last 10 numbers dialled.
You also have the option of selecting the speaker button. Here you can then get on with your business whilst having the phone on the side, as it uses the speaker.
A very well made phone, with nice soft touch buttons. Sound quality is good and you can talk for hours. I have had no issues with the phone in over a year since I have owned it.
