Panasonic KX TG6421ES
Advantages: Calling is a joy, no problems
Disadvantages: less range about 10 mtrs but still enough
Because we were tired to always having to run when the phone rang we went looking for a cordless phone with 2 or more handsets. After wandering through the various offers at discounters, DIY centres, we ended up at a real electronics shop. Here we have been seduced into buying the Panasonic KXTG6421. After one year of using it we are happy we bought him.
The base station (where you connect the phone cord) is quite small and sleek. They designed it so that you can easily reach the buttons of the answering machine. Right from its base is the speaker. The top of the base is made of matte silver plastic and has a medium dark gray accent around its base. The buttons on the answering machine are silver and black and the play button has an illuminated icon (when a message is left). The bottom of the base is made of the same plastic as the gray accent around the charging unit. Behind on the base are two connection options. One for the AC adapter and one for the phone cord. All in all the base is just fine and will fit nicely into most interiors.
The base of the TG6421 has a number of buttons that allow you to operate the answering machine (turning it on/off, message playback, erasing, next or previous message, message repetition, message volume and delete), but also a button to 'call' the handsets. When you do this the handsets will ring for a while. This is a useful feature for people like me who leave the handsets often somewhere in the house.
In daily use we have little to do with the base. Occasionally you will have to 'call' a handset, but that is it. What is very useful is that the base has its own speaker when the phone rings (this is not always the case with other base stations). The base station produces a clearly audible and clear sound. Both when playing messages and when the phone rings the sound quality is good. This level may be increased or decreased as desired. The base has a pair of polyphonic ringtones, which are different from those of the handsets.
The answering machine was a bonus that we don't use so much. Yet it is useful to be able to receive messages without having to rely on a service provider. On the answering machine can be up to 64 messages or 20 minutes recorded.
The part which is very important is the handset. This handset has a fairly light but solid design. The design is not as shiny and bling bling as some (more expensive) models. Personally I find this design a success. On the front of the handset you will find of course the many buttons but also a backlit display (monochrome) and of course the ear speaker. The handset is easy to use and lays comfortable in my hand.
The handset is a nice to work with. We both call quite a lot and are positive about the sound quality and convenience the several options TG6421 offers. I am very positive about this phone and have no negative points in use. Calling with the TG6421 is a joy compared to the cheaper models that we previously had. Through good ergonomics the handset is nice to hold and is easy to operate. The sound quality of the ear speaker is perfect and we have no problems with noise or interference from the wireless technology. According to the specifications the phone has a range of 50 meters indoors (how big can a house be?) and an outdoor range of 300 meters (open field).
Here is of course the phrase inserted: "The range will decline as the handset is near concrete barriers, etc. " This basically means that you do not have a normally reach but the average is 10 meters which will cover a house. More than enough for us!
All in all very good handset to use!
