Okay so after days on end of looking for a new phone i came acorss the panasonic kx and i must admit even though i read the specs on it, it looked good so i got it. This is the biggest mistake to make when purchasing technology, if it looks way better than its competitors then its probably had less time spent on actually making it a good peice of equipment and if it looks good and works well then you need a pat on the back!

When it arrived i was surprised, most phones come with about 10 metres of wire which is so annoying when in truth the base to the phone socket is no more than 2 foot, however this phone was practical and that was my first positive. Its true that it does look good and its got clever little features which are handy, like the little grip pad on the back of the phone to help grip onto your shoulder if both your hands are occupied. Also the high quality speaker phone which unlike my past phones you can actually put this phone on the counter and walk 5 or 6 metres from it and still be heard. The screen is a good size and the display is good font and easy to understand with a nice big clock on display.

Features within the phone are many. You get an answering machine which unfortunately when it comes to recording your own leave a message has terrible quality, its very sensitive and takes so many attempts to perfect so the sounds not too loud or fuzzy, so that is a negative, but the default answering machine voice is clear and precise and the quality of the actual message is great. The base has playback buttons and a bright red light flashes when you have a new message. You can have 20 minutes worth of messages before you need to delete which is generous (and anyone who leaves a message longer than that obviously didnt hear you say you are not home leave a message after the beep!)

Quite importantly you can save money with this phone as well thanks to the missed call feature, simply look at the screen and if there is a phone symbol with an arrow by it, press the left arrow on your phone and it shows you who called, thus saving ringing 1471. There is a large capacity for contacts and a built in caller display. Enter the contacts names on one phone and use the feature in the phone to transfer those contacts to the other phone, which saves the nightmare of adding the same people 2, 3 or 4 times.

The quality of the phone is brilliant, very clear and it also kills backround noise. For instance my fiance rang me when i was in a supermarket and she thought i was still in the office because there was no backround noise, however i was obviously being nearly deafended by the hundreds of people pushing past me! So that is another great feature to this phone.

A fault would be i guess a little trivial but the ringtones are simply just bad. Most are annoying, some are too short so i opted for a simple ring ring, which i guess is probably the better option anyway but i was left very disappointed with the poor quality of ringtone.

The idle time is great on this phone, probably takes an hour or two to fully charge and can then be left off the charger for around 300 hours without much use, and probably 150 hours with general use, id say even more, that is from personal experience.

The buttons are nice and big and they light up with an orange glow, and another clever feature is when it lights up with a phone call the light flickers, which is useful.

To sum up, this phone is the best landline phone i have ever bought and i would recommend it to anyone, its features are all good and it doesnt fall short of anything other than purhaps the poor selection of ringtones (maybe im picky) but in general this phone is very good and very well priced for what you get.

Summary: For the price you would be hard pushed to find a better landline telephone than this one!
