This phone is excellent value for money.

I bought this phone on ebay for £35 with twin handsets as they were on clearence. It works really well with a good range and I can use it down the end of our 100m long garden without any problems. The base station is a complete phone by itself, and doubles as an extra phone (as well as being an ansa phone). I do find it difficult to transfer calls between handsets, and still walk around the house and hand the phone over. That said, there is hold music during the transfer process, which is great for a business from home. When the battery gets low the phone cuts off without warning and the call is lost. I guess I should keep an eye on the battery level indicator before making a call. The speaker phone facility on every unit is also great and works much better than other systems I have used- the person you are speaking with can actually hear you as if it was a 'normal' call. I haven't tried sending a SMS text message yet, as I haven't had to- reading them is faily straight forward though. Another thing that is both good and bad is the call screening function on the base station. When someone calls with a witheld number (using caller ID), and starts talking to the answer machine, you can hear them before you pick up. Well the 'pick up' part is where it is a bit challenging- you need to page the handsets, which then plays hold music to whoever is calling, then grab a handset, press accept call and then press pickup call, which takes about 2 seconds. That is a long time. At the end of the day this is great phone, which has every conceivable function you can think of and then some. You can even record your own ring tone- which could be a baby crying or the sound of your favourite music track. I think I'll be using this phone for maany years to come. Even the rechargeable NiMH batteries can be changed every few years without having to unscrew the handset. If you can get one on the cheap somewhere, you wont be disappointed.
