That s when my mobile battery went and I was left to decide on my own. Off to the phone isle I went. We needed a cordless with an answering machine and a good battery life, I was getting somewhere! There were around 50 phones on display and this Philips CD2551 caught my eye straight away, its lovely large size and modern looking base and a claimed 12 hours battery life, it was mine. ... phone is possibly the worst I ve had in 20 years. The only reason I don t buy a different one is that we don t use the landline for outbound calls anymore, so it doesn t seem worth it. First, there is not a single ringtone on this thing that doesn t send chills down my spine when I hear it. They re all awful! I have resorted to switching it to a "normal" ring ring sound (which isn t a normal one that you would of heard before) and setting the volume to 1, in the hope I don t even hear the blasted thing.
