      Good basic office phones

The Siemens Gigaset is a streamlined phone, not full of tech but surprisingly useful in terms of being a good phone for a small office. We had two handsets for a long period of time and only recently have upgraded to a phone set more suited to a network.

When we did not need the upgrade we were all happy with the Gigaset phones, the simple menus hid a multitude of functions but it didn't take long to learn how to use the phones thanks to the intuitive design.

You can use six Gigaset handset with each base unit and four can be used at any one time, it's obvious on each handset if the full maximum are being used and that leaves you unable to make a call if you are handset five or six. Obviously each handset has the same telephone number so ideal for simple office use, equally useful is the ability to make internal calls across the six handsets with each being given a name in the menu so can be found at the touch of a button.

The large display on the Gigaset is useful when scrolling through menus but feel unnecessarily big at times, especially when the phone is sitting unused on my desk.

The handsfree option wasn't great as calls lost a lot of clarity, I used it only very rarely when I needed both hands to work at my computer while taking instructions on the phone. I chose not to use it whenever possible, preferring to hold the phone and take notes instead of trying to work mid call.

Battery life was always brilliant, can't be faulted even on days when heavy use is necessary to get the job done. Most handsets were left on charge continually in the office but that didn't decrease the life while in use, I don't think a single battery was replaced in all the time we used them at work which is a sign of the excellent quality of the handsets and base unit.

      Hi tech home phone

Having finally had enough of an aging Panasonic system (not helped by one phone with an unresponsive #1 key) I bit the bullet to get these phones based on reviews here and elsewhere. On arrival I found them a doddle to set up, and was delighted to discover the old phones wouldsync with the new base station; unfortunately though they couldn't transfer the numbers stored to the other handsets. Re-entering the directory on one of the new handsets was very time consuming, but transferring them to the other handset was the easiest I've found on any hands free system.

There is certainly a lot of things this system will do, so it is well worth reading the manual to get it working to its best, but once up and running (and I suggest allow for a couple of days to get to grips with it properly) it is a super little phone. Sound quality is one of the best I've heard, as is the volume of the hands free, whilst other callers have remarked on how clear it sounds. Easy to use and to handle, the handset feels comfortable and the (metal) buttons are responsive. The screen is easy to read, and I like the digital clock display when on standby.

If there is any downside, it is the requirement to charge it up and then let the batteries run down (for the first time only) before recharging. It took about 4 days for the handsets to run down - and then did so overnight and both stopped working almost together, so the old BT phone had to become the only phone for a while. Once recharged though I have had no problems, and the charge lasts a long time if not plugged in to recharge pemanently..

Overall a superb home (or business) phone, and one I would thoroughly recommend, despite the price - if you want quality it seems you have to pay for it

      Superb Phone System by Siemens

      Siemens Gigaset SL1 Professional
You want a great phone, go for this one, I will tell you why. It looks like a mobile phone with the same sort of interface, clever in fact.
Firstly, set up is easy when you follow the instructions found in the manual and the sound quality is great for this Siemens phone though a little bit expensive you get your money’s worth and well worth it.
The range for transmitting is also fantastic it can vary from 150 meters up to 300 meters depending on the area that you live EG if you live in a wooded area you would expect to get up to the lower 150 meters and on hand if you lived in a clear area you would reach the upper level of 300 meters.
There are lots of features on this branded product from Siemens such as the clock that keeps perfect time and the Bluetooth ability. There are plenty of ring tones as well but if you do not like them you can down load more through the Bluetooth.
Another feature if you buy a set of two phones you can add to it at a later date and makes it easy to intergrate the extra phone. In fact you can add quite a few more in this way.
You can add your contacts as well with the Bluetooth and you can import pictures for the contact, say a portrait of the contact, nice thought on the part of Siemens.
To sum up then, with all the points listed above you are not going to be disappointed when you buy it and install this baby, that’s for sure.
